GFSA Info

The Goldfish Report editors have a page on this site to communicate important information about the GFSA's premier print publication. The May-June issue should be out soon! Go take a look here.

If you have let your membership lapse or have been thinking about joining the GFSA, now is a great time - here is a form you can print. To submit material for the Goldfish Report to Matt Lyon, please see the updated society contact info. Articles and photos in electronic form are particularly appreciated.

The current line-up of people filling the GFSA offices is on the society officers page. The events calendar covers 2003 events and activities.

Seasonal Advice

People who raise goldfish fry are always fiddling with different prepared and live foods. Finding something convenient that gives good growth and doesn't foul the water is always the challenge. One popular option is "microworms", a nematode that can be cultured in cooked cereal and that is small enough for goldfish that have been free swimming for a few days to handle. There is a lot of info on the Web discussing how to culture these guys (for example). One thing you don't see mention of often, though, is how to keep a culture going in the "off season" without it getting too stinky and needing refreshing every 3 or 4 weeks. The easiest way is to put a small culture in the refrigerator; the nematode life cycle will slow way down and the culture should remain "fresh" for several months.
