Cleveland Ohio, April 29, 2000 - Francis’ slide presentation began with the construction of a major pond starting with the original excavation. This particular pond was constructed using concrete. Francis gave the audience quite a bit of detail on how to install the re-enforcing steel and build the form in which the concrete is poured. After the concrete is poured areas are built into the concrete pond for planting beds for aquatic plants. Then some impressive photos of how Francis and his crew move and position huge boulders in the pond using a backhoe and large pry bars.

Then Francis detailed how he constructed the filter with two 180-gallon tanks. One chamber of the filter contained brushes for mechanical filtration then a second chamber for biological filtration. Also, Francis discussed the importance of having removable fittings around pumps, so that the pumps can be removed and serviced.
After the pond is filled and running Francis discussed what type of plants look good to surrounding the pond and to keep things looking natural.

Once Francis had completed presenting this spectacular pond constructed task, he showed some slides of things to avoid as far as esthetics of the pond and some major problems caused by construction mistakes made by homeowners.
Then some more of additional ponds Francis has done and more detail about how he and his crew move and position stones as large as 4000 pounds creating spectacular water falls and effects.
Francis then had an informal question and answer period to wrap up his presentation.
